Check your essay for AI
before you hit submit.

AITurnitin estimates how likely an English essay was written by AI and highlights the sentences that read most like it. Then polish the flagged sentences: we rewrite only those, keep citations and numbers exactly as you wrote them, and show our detector's verdict before and after.

How it works

Check, read, revise

  1. 1

    Paste or upload

Paste the full body of your paper, or drop a .docx or .pdf. 1,500+ words is most reliable; the minimum is 50. New accounts get 5,000 free credits, enough to check 5,000 words.

  2. 2

    Read the verdict

Get one of three verdicts — likely human, uncertain, likely AI — plus highlights on the sentences that read most like AI. Under 500 words, any result is preliminary.

  3. 3

    Polish and re-check

Rewrite the flagged sentences, undo any change you don't want, export to .docx and compare the verdict before and after.

AI Detector

Know what a grader might see

Two models trained to separate human and AI writing score the whole document, calibrated on academic English, and highlight the sentences that read most like AI.

  • Three clear verdicts instead of a fake-precise percentage
  • Sentence highlights you can act on
  • Free once: 5,000 credits (enough to check 5,000 words)

Rewrite what reads like AI, keep the rest

Only the sentences our detector flags are rewritten; the rest stays as you wrote it. A rewrite is kept only if it reads naturally and our detector scores the text lower, and citations, numbers and abbreviations stay exactly as written.

  • Side-by-side changes, accept or undo each
  • Citations like (Lee, 2021) never touched
  • Copy, .txt or .docx export

Accuracy, honestly

An estimate you can trust — because we say where it fails

No AI detector is proof. We tune ours to wrongly flag human writing as rarely as possible, and we publish how we tested it.

Calibrated on academic writing
“Likely AI” is set so about 1 in 100 human-written academic texts crosses it.
Tested on 2,338 texts
Human essays and output from several current AI models, scored end to end.
Known blind spots
The newest models and “humanizer” tools are often missed. Texts under 50 words get no verdict, and under 500 words a Likely AI or Uncertain verdict is downgraded to low confidence. Any result under 500 words, including Likely human, is preliminary.

Questions students ask

Can a “Likely AI” result prove I used AI?

No. It is a statistical estimate. Human writing is sometimes flagged, and AI writing is sometimes missed. Use it as a signal to review your draft, not as evidence.

What happens to my essay?

Your text is deleted from our servers within 24 hours, and you can delete it sooner. It is never used to train any model.

Which languages can it check?

Detection and polishing work on English text. The website itself is available in 17 languages so you can read every result in your own.

Will polishing change my citations or data?

No. Every revised sentence is checked: citations, numbers and abbreviations must match the original exactly, or the sentence is kept as you wrote it.
